A dream come true
We are at the end of the 50s, the decade of Rock’n’Roll and blue jeans. It is a time in which everything seems possible. After the harsh austerity of the immediate postwar years, Italy finally begins to change perspective and looks to the future with optimism.
On a spring Sunday, along the charming promenade in Nervi (Genoa), Bruno Ferrando and his wife Laura decide to embark on an incredible adventure together: the creation of a cosmetics company. Bruno is an established sales agent who represents major brands in the perfume industry and Laura is a tenacious and strong-willed woman, devoted to her work and to her family.
With that, Gabor is founded, taking on the name of a very famous actress of the period.

My Genoa
Years pass and finally their sacrifices begin to bear fruit. In the mid-60s, during the economic boom, Bruno and Laura decide to transfer production to their beloved Genoa by also starting to make depilatory waxes. It is the right choice! Genoa is a special place. It is a harbour city and from its waters Gabor truly begins to set sail.
Bruno is perceptive and ambitious. He understands that he can achieve more and more. His intuition leads him to sign an annual agreement with a local television broadcaster, TeleradioCity, to advertise in Liguria, Piedmont and Tuscany. It is a huge success! The Gabor brand immediately gains recognition as do some of its products. On the Ligurian beaches you begin to smell the coconut of Taboga, the coconut tanning oil with bergamot, and in the shower Gabor’s delicate Camomille shampoo makes its debut.
The race continues
Bruno and Laura continue their journey driven by an irrepressible enthusiasm. In every product they do their best to add that “extra” that makes the difference.
The competitors start to become more numerous and fierce but Bruno and Laura refuse to be left behind.
Even if they have a bit more gray hair, they soon find themselves catapulted into the 80s with a well-established company, a new production plant that is increasingly on the cutting edge, and nationwide distribution.
Years pass and Bruno and Laura bring their son Aldo into the company, yet another good choice. A gradual transfer gives Aldo the opportunity to fully learn the trade and adopt the philosophy that has always distinguished the company. Aldo falls in love not only with his work but also with a young girl, Cristina, who soon becomes his wife and as soon as she finishes her studies she joins the company as head of the style and communications office. Thanks to their creative spirit and keenness for new trends, Gabor renews its image, gaining more and more consensus from consumers.
A leap in quality
At the end of the 90s, with the company expanding into new international markets, Aldo’s family also grows with the birth of Elena.
Aldo officially takes over management of the company and leads it towards further leaps in quality. The first of these takes place in 2008 with the acquisition of Mario Giussani s.r.l, a historic company which began its activity 1936 and market leader in the field of quality natural false eyelashes, make-up accessories and eyelash curlers.
If that is not enough, Aldo also decides to launch new important brands such as Riflexil and Gabor Professional which immediately position themselves among the high-quality products distributed to professional buyers.
The company reaches a new peak in 2010 when the new prestigious brand Gabor Selective Hyaluronic Acid is born, one of the first cosmetic products to use this particular chemical.
To celebrate this important milestone, Gabor lands on national television with a commercial and a develops a print media campaign that sees the company make its appearance in all of the country’s most important newspapers. Gabor thus confirms itself as one of the main enterprises in the sector.
The dream continues
We arrive at the present day and Aldo is still here, with his family and his esteemed collaborators loyally at his side. All look to the future with optimism and with the same passion as that of Bruno and Laura.
And in this light, Gabor brings to the market yet another ground-breaking creation: Gabor Selective 9 Hyaluronic Acids, a revolutionary product with a truly innovative and exclusive formula. The launch takes place in Gabor’s usual grand style with a brand new television campaign on Mediaset networks.
Today Gabor is a solid reality, present on the Italian and international markets in the best perfumeries. It is also digitizing which has seen the opening of its online store and collaboration with other digital platforms.
